Machupicchu - The Land of the Incas

At Boutique Hotel Casa San Blas, all of our staff are more than happy to help you plan your time in Cusco and around Peru.

Cusco is located in the Sacred Valley of the Incas and is the center of many trips to visit surrounding ruins. Many of our clients stay here before and after their visit to Machu Picchu, located just a few hours from the Cusco city center.

Machu Picchu, the famed yet mysterious Inca fortress, is theorized to be a fortress, a summer home for the ruling Inca, or a religious site, is often reached by foot via the Inca Trail, or by train, which drops you off in the town of Aguas Calientes.

The Inca Trail has a limit of 200 travelers per day, but there is no cap on the amount that can enter the Machu Picchu Sanctuary in one day.

Huayna Picchu, the mountainrecognizable from every traditional photo of Machu Picchu, allows an astounding view of the ruins, and this site is a must-see during any trip to Peru.

Machu Picchu, however, is not the only site worth seeing in the Sacred Valley! Just a short cab ride outside of the city center you can take day trips to Urubamba, Ollantaytambo, Pisac, Moras, Moray, Chinchero or Salinas. Each of these towns has their own traditional Andean flavor and offers the visitor something different: from enigmatic circular ruins to salt mines that are still in use today, our staff will work with you and your interests so you get the most out of your time in Cusco. Our sister hotel, the Urubamba Boutique Lodge, is located in the Sacred Valley between Pisaq and Urubamba, and is a wonderful place to stay and enjoy the calm of nature and the mystic feel of the Sacred Valley of the Incas.

Of course, if you prefer to stay in town and soak up as much Pervuian culture as you can, we can also help arrange shorter visits to the ruins within walking distance of the hotel. There´s the fortress of Sacsayhuaman, where the Incas and Spanish fought one of their most greusome battles, the famed water site of Tambomachay, the zig-zagged ruins of Q´enko, or the ¨red fortress¨ of Puka-Pukara.

Outside of Cusco and the Sacred Valley, Peru is filled with places to visit, including the Amazon jungle, the north coast and ruins at Chan-Chan and Sipán, and Lake Titicaca, where – according to legend – is where the founders of the Inca Empire were born. Here at Hotel Casa San Blas we will work with you to make your trip to Peru exactly how you hoped it would be!.
