For those who want an experience, not just a place to stay for a night!
This charming hotel is located just behind and up the hill from the Plaza de Armas, the heart of Cusco! While the «hill» is admittedly a challenge to walk up, it is lined with gorgeous Peruvian textiles and crafts’ stores. As a rule, you should walk down, then take a taxi back up! We had a comfortable stay, with very personal and friendly service! My favorite personal touch was that they delivered hot water bottles each evening to warm your beds for the cold June nights, and they stayed warm all night! Read about the history of the hotel in the leather-bound notebook in your room, it is very interesting. They also «name» each room, giving your experience a deeper meaning. We stayed in the frog room, which was to teach us that as frogs go through a change, we should not be afraid of change in our own lives – that we should go out an experience new things. It was a lovely touch. The staff never failed to help us! They will even hold your bags when you leave over night to go to Machu Picchu. (When you need a taxi, we suggest you have them request Gorge! He would LOVE to be your faithful driver for your whole visit. You tell him a time and place and he will be there!) The breakfast was just enough with eggs to order, and served by friendly staff. Also, check out the roof-topped terrace at night! The view of the mountains is stunning! If this is to to be a once in a lifetime trip like ours, you should stay at a place that deepens your experience of the country like Casa San Blas..
